Welcome to Santa Cruz  Portugal’s hidden gem!

When you come to our partner surf camp Santa Cruz to surf Portugal’s amazing waves with us, you will be staying right on Portugal’s west coast in Santa Cruz, which is a beautiful district of the communities Silveira and A-dos-Cunhados in the county of Torres Vedras. Santa Cruz is only about 60 km from Lisbon and an insider tip for travelers and surfers due to its unique beaches, cliffs, bays and waves. Here you will find over 20 beaches within only 20 km of coast from Porta to Porto Novo, of which Santa Cruz has been deemed the “Queen of all beaches in the west” due to it being located in a more cosmopolitan area but still remaining true to its traditions and culture.

Surf Camp Santa Cruz

The beaches in Santa Cruz are all unique, for example Praia Formosa, which lies in the southern part of Santa Cruz. The steep cliffs form an amazing and cozy little bay that protects the beach goers from the cold, making it a great place to visit all year around. But what is most special about this beach is the famous Penedo do Guincho, a unique stone arch on the northern edge of the beach.
Since you are obviously not coming over to our surf camp to only lie around on the beach all day but rather to surf as much as possible, the more pressing question might be whether the waves are just as nice as the beaches. The answer is a definite “YES!”. There are numerous amazing waves for surfers of all skill levels within just 20 km of Santa Cruz. Beginners and intermediates can enjoy the beach breaks for example at Praia Azul, which offer good conditions at any tide to practice and improve one’s surfing skills. In addition to the rather mellow (depending on the conditions of course) beach breaks you can also find various expert surf spots nearby as well, for example the powerful right hander Consolação, one of Portugal’s best known big wave spots São Lourenço or the dangerously heavy wave of Coxos.

Our surf camp Santa Cruz is located right by the beach, meaning you’ll only need a 5 to 10 minute stroll to feel the warm sand beneath your feet. Just as close to the surf camp are supermarkets, in which you can buy all the food and drinks that you might need during your stay, as well as numerous bars and restaurants, which we recommend you visit when you wish to explore the local cuisine or are craving a cool post-surf beer while watching the sun set.
