Surf Lessons in Santa Cruz

Our greatest priority is not only that you have heaps of fun during our surf lessons in Santa Cruz but that you progress as much as possible in the water, as well. Therefore, we have structured our surf courses with regard to three different skill levels: beginners, intermediates and experts. By distinguishing these three groups of surfers we are able to ensure that the lessons are well suited for your abilities, no matter how much or little prior experience you have on a surfboard.

The beginner’s course is for those who are completely new to surfing. Here, our surf instructors, all of which are licensed according to the Portugese and international certification (ISA) as well as qualified lifeguards, will teach you the basics of surfing, both in theory and in practice. This involves you getting used to the ocean and the waves in addition to learning the take-off technique first on the beach and in the white water afterwards.

Should you already have successfully mastered these steps, then the intermediate course will be just right for you since you will leave the white wash and start tackling unbroken, green waves. You will learn how to take-off on green waves as well as how to do your first turns (bottom and top turn, cut-back, etc.).

And last but not least there’s the expert course, which has the objective of fine-tuning your surf skills, given that you already feel comfortable in waves of up to 1.5 meters. We will look for the last minor mistakes you still might have and try to correct them, improving your overall abilities as a surfer. This means that you will be further working on your turns and learn new, even more advanced maneuvers.

A normal day of surfing at our surf camp consists of 2 surf sessions. Of course we also consider your individual wishes by offering you different packages. As for the surf equipment you will be able to take your pick from our wide quiver of surfboards consisting of soft tops as well as high-quality surfboards from the brands NSP, Torq and Manual. We will pick you up for every surf lesson at the accommodation that you are staying at (hotel, surf villa or villa deluxe) and go to the surf spot together, which we choose individually for every surf lesson according to the respective conditions each day. In small groups of at most 6 students per surf instructor you will then have two surf lessons with a break in between, of course. In case you’re now thinking that all of this might sound amazing but you’re worried about your rusty or non-existent Portugese skills – worry no more! In addition to Portugese, our surf instructors speak English, French and Spanish as well. The kids’ surf lessons are available in German, too. As you can see, there is nothing standing in the way of your visit at our camp!
