Forever dreaming of wetsuit-less surfing? Well, let us present to you our new partner surf camp in Canggu, Bali! We’re sure you’ve all heard plenty of times before how Bali is one of the world’s greatest surfing destinations, with excellent waves and excellent weather year-round, so let us give you a run down of what a week in paradise at our surf camp looks like…

So, you’ve arrived at Bali’s airport in the capital city Denpasar. It’s any day of the week and any time, as we’re completely flexible! You can now relax because waiting for you at the airport will be one of our drivers to greet you, and to bring you and your gear right to the doorstep of our camp in Canggu. Sit back and enjoy your first glimpses of Bali’s vibrant scenery!

When you arrive at our camp in Canggu’s centre, after a drive of only about 40 minutes, you’ll see for yourself just how special our surf villa is. This isn’t your average surf house! We’ve got a private pool, an outdoor cinema, and even a bar. Furthermore, with free WiFi in every room, you can share all the breath-taking photos that you’re taking with your friends back home (tag us @planetsurfcamps)! All bedrooms have private bathrooms, air-conditioning, and are cleaned on a daily basis. You can choose from a shared room, a deluxe room with its own balcony, or the recently renovated superior room which stands at a massive 32 square metres and has its own walk in wardrobe.

For those wondering about the town of Canggu itself, you’ll find a chilled-out atmosphere and epic sunsets, but also wild beach parties too. Our nearest surf spot, Berawa, is well within walking reach, as are the breaks of Batu Bolong, Echo Beach, and Oldmans.

Start your first morning at camp, the same great way as you will for the rest of the week, with a beautiful breakfast, freshly prepared by our chef, using locally sourced ingredients. If you’re following a meat-, lactose-, or gluten- free diet, you need not worry as this can be accommodated too.

After you’ve finished breakfast, it’s time for your first surf of the week. Grab a board and lycra, and let’s hit the waves! No matter what your level of surf experience we have a surf programme to suit you!

If you’re a beginner, or an intermediate level surfer, our surf lessons will have you up and ripping in no time. All our instructors are fully certified, and we teach with a maximum of eight students per instructor, ensuring you get the individual feedback that you require. Your instructor will use their great local knowledge and analysis of the day’s surf conditions to take you to the spot best suited to your group’s ability level. From here you’ll limber up, and run through some surfing techniques on the beach, before hitting the water and putting it all into practise. Once you’ve completed your 2-hour surf lesson, you can of course spend the rest of the day practising what you’ve been taught with free use of our surf equipment…if you still have the energy that is! If you don’t feel like walking to your chosen break, no worries! You can take one of our scooters, complete with board rack, for free of charge as well.

For the intermediate and advanced surfers, one of our highly knowledgeable surf guides will take you to where the waves are pumping, and you can enjoy sessions from dawn until dusk. There’s a great range of surf breaks in easy reach of our surf house so you can surf a different break every day, or several a day if you so choose!

After a hard days surfing, you’ve probably built up quite the appetite! Being situated in the centre of Canggu means that we have a great choice of affordable restaurants and cafes only a short stroll away. Check out some traditional Indonesian cuisine at Warung Bu Mi, or perhaps a burger at Deus Ex Machina is more up your street?

On your second and third days’ stay perhaps you choose to follow a similar path to your first, spending all day in the water honing your pop-up? Maybe you joined one of our yoga classes in the morning, pre-surf, to stretch out any sore muscles from yesterday’s first day in the water? We offer Vinyasa style yoga sessions each morning and evening at our camp, from Monday to Saturday. The evenings are filled with some Après-surf beers at our bar, discussing the days waves and laughing over some epic wipeouts. One of these nights falls on the night of our weekly BBQ, where we grill up a tasty feast for you all to enjoy with your new surfing buddies!

Now that you are half way through your stay, mix it up a little and venture further afield by joining our day trip to Central Bali. You can stand under the 40-metre-tall Air Terjun Nungnung waterfall, visit the active volcano Gunung Batur, and be wowed by the extensive wildlife of Monkey Forest. There’s also Ubud city, the Luwak organic coffee plantation, and the rice fields to visit too. There’s just so much to experience on this exotic island! We also offer excursions to the ancient Hindu temple of Tanah Lot, and snorkelling trips to Menjangan Island as well.

Activities in Bali

A couple more days surfing, and suddenly, all too soon, your last full day in Bali has arrived. Of course, you fill it with as much time in the water as possible!

On your last night, you and your new friends, decide on a night out in the bars and clubs of either Seminyak, Legian or Kuta, all only a short drive away. Whilst Canggu has some super cool bars, it’s nice to check out the nightlife of another region too.

Your last day is here, and there is time for one last surf. Catch a few last waves and refresh your potentially sore head, before we drive you back to the airport. You leave exhausted, thoroughly relaxed, and already planning your return to score some more epic waves!

If you too want to experience a week of the authentic Balinese lifestyle at our Surf Camp Canggu Berawa, we are open all year long. Prices for a week-long stay start at 329€.

Hope to share some Indonesian waves soon!
