Whether you fancy an action-packed holiday full of water sports, or a chilled-out time exploring the local towns, it’s totally up to you! Here’s just some of the activity options on offer at the surf camp in Denmark…

Surfing

Being a surf camp, obviously one of the many activities on offer is surfing! Whilst Denmark may not be the first place that springs to mind on thought of surfing, there are some great uncrowded waves to be had in the North Sea. The surf camp offers surf lessons for all ability levels and has a wide range of surf boards to chose from. The nearest surf spot is just 900m from the surf camp.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUPing)

Ringkøbing Fjord is the biggest coastal lake in Denmark, at 300km². It offers the ideal location for a peaceful SUP adventure, a great alternative way to explore Hvide Sande. Either borrow a paddle board and explore on your own, or join an organised tour taking you on a scenic route on the lake, with a BBQ after or stop halfway for coffee and cake.

Kayaking

If you prefer to explore Ringkøbing Fjord sitting down, then perhaps kayaking is the activity for you! Paddle around at the pace you desire and take in the fresh Danish air.

Cycling

The camp’s rental bikes will allow you to explore the surrounding areas. There is a cycle trail around Ringkøbing Fjord, 100km in length, that take you amongst the dunes, alongside the fjord. Sights of the bicycle trail include the Lyngvig Fyr lighthouse, typical quaint Danish towns, and the Stauning Whiskey distillery which offers guided tours and tastings.

Longboarding

If you wish to skate around the local area, you can hire a longboard from the local Cologne Concrete Wave Skate Shop. The cycle path around Ringkøbing Fjord makes for an ideal place for both learning to skate and for longer skates too.

Yoga

There are yoga lessons every day, apart from Wednesdays and Sundays. Yoga is a great complementary activity to surfing, and other water sports, offering improved balance, strength and flexibility.

Indoor activities

Inside the surf house there is a pool table, table football, and air hockey. There are also yoga mats available to use too.

Tours & Excursions

Hvide Sande

The closest city to the surf camp is the city of Hvide Sande, at just over 2km away. Hvide Sande is a port city, situated where the land splits between the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord. The influence of the fishing port on the town is clear, and a lunchtime visit to the fish smokehouse to try the local delicacies is highly recommended. There are plenty of shops and cafes to spend a lazy afternoon exploring, or if you want to have a go at catching some fish yourself, the pier is the ideal location.

Ringkøbing

The city of Ringkøbing is one of the oldest in the region and is well-loved for it’s old-school charm with narrow cobbled streets and long-standing buildings. There are many restaurants and ice-cream parlours to enjoy, and Ringkøbing is just a 20-minute car journey from the surf camp. The city is also host to several music events throughout the year, as well as being steeped in history.

Søndervig

The popular holiday resort of Søndervig is well equipped with shops, restaurants, cafes, a bowling centre and a golf course.  There is also a lovely organic farm shop called Vestkystens Gaardbutik, which sells a variety of homemade and local produce.

In between the surf camp and Søndervig, is Lyngvig lighthouse. Ascending the lighthouse stairs to a viewing platform at the top offers a spectacular view of the surrounding scenery.

Aarhus

The 2017 European Capital of Culture, Aarhus, is Denmark’s second largest city. Aarhus is home to several interesting museums and cultural sites. There are also lots of shops if you fancy doing a spot of shopping. Aarhus is a 2-hour drive from the surf camp.
