The Surf Instructors

At the surf camp in Sri Lanka, all surf lessons are taken by qualified instructors, who hold an ISA Level 1 or 2 certificate and a Surf Lifesaver award. The instructors are selected carefully for their instructing prowess. The instructors are not just surfers with an instructing licence, but individuals who also have the skills and passion to instruct. The instructors of the surf camp in Sri Lanka will ensure not only that you learn the correct surfing technique, but also that you are always safe and having fun whilst doing so.

The Surf Lessons

Surf lessons are taken in small group sizes, with an absolute maximum of 8 students per instructor. The small group sizes ensure that students receive plenty of individual attention and feedback. Furthermore, pupils are arranged into surf lesson groups based on their ability level to allow them to benefit the most from the lessons. However, students are not fixed to one ability group, they can move up to a more advanced group, or down to a less experienced group as their instructor sees fit, to order to allow them to profit from the lessons the most.

The Surf Equipment

From softboards for beginners to high performance composite sandwich surfboards for advanced surfers, there are boards to suit any ability level. For those taking their first forages into the world of surfing, the camp has various length soft-top boards. Soft-top boards, or ‘foamies’, provide greater buoyancy and volume to make getting up and standing easier, and they are safer for the inexperienced surfer with softer surfaces and blunter fins. If you’ve progressed off of foamies then the camp has an expansive quiver of Sunova surfboards for you to use. Sunova surfboards are high performance composite sandwich surfboards and the brand is known for their pioneering work in lightweight construction, as well as the strength and flex of their boards. At the helm of Sunova Surfbaords is shaper Bert Burger who won Shaper of the Year in 2007. Bert Burger was also the inventor of both the parabolic rail and firewire technology. It’s fair to say, whatever your surfing experience, at the surf camp in Sri Lanka, you’ll find a suitable board for you.
